SUTTONS BAY, MI
Still a pretty well kept secret, Suttons Bay is a fairly hidden beautiful Lake town just outside of Traverse City that turns into a lively family summer destination. The town itself is pretty much just one street, but it has everything you need.
Most people have only experienced Lake Michigan from the Southern part in Chicago, but the water in this Northeastern Bay, tucked away from the winds of the larger Lake, are crystal clear blue and the beaches are covered in beautiful stones.
PRO TIPS
There is a fossilized coral called a Petosky stone that is native to this area and the pebble design can only be seen when the stone is wet. They are very fun to hunt for along the beaches!
Northern Michigan is the Cherry Capital of the US! And they make sure to let you know. They’ve got cherry pies, dried cherries, cherry soda…
You can’t visit SB without taking home a box of Murdick’s Fudge.
